Healthy vs In Shape

Being HEALTHY versus being IN SHAPE can be extremely different things.

In the span of 4 years, I had 4 hospitalizations, 5 surgeries, and 100+ hours of physical therapy. All to try to achieve a goal to be not only an athlete, but feminine as well.

Pop culture was belittling women like me for looking to masculine and not being “a girl.”

I felt WEAK and so conflicted. My body was being pushed in every direction not just physically but emotionally as well.

I remember while everyone was enjoying their Christmas, I was at the gym twice a day and avoiding all the delicious food my mother spent so long making.

Eventually my body broke. I became septic from an infection in my gal bladder and spent 5 days in the hospital recovering. Once I got home, I realized something needed to change.

That is when I STOPPED making myself into what I thought people wanted and started LISTENING to what my body was trying to tell me.

I got my degree in exercise science and went on to become a certified trainer. I wanted to start helping not only myself heal but others like me.

Seven years and hundreds of clients later, I only feel blessed for the journey I went through to get here today.
